, VA,

A few months ago, we asked you to help us develop a new tagline for The Messages Project. You really came through for us! We received more than 25 submissions, and it took quite a bit of thought for our Board of Directors to narrow it down. In the end, we ultimately decided to use a modified version of two different entries. By combining two great thoughts, we were better able to communicate the mission and vision of The Messages Project.

And the winner is…

This motto encompasses so much. Let’s look closely at each piece.

Creating messages. The messages themselves are the foundation of our organization. By filming personalized messages from incarcerated parents to send home to their children, we are allowing families to create and maintain an essential lifelong bond.

Mending hearts. When the children receive a package from mom or dad, it brings them great joy. The act of bringing love to these kids allows them to have a bit of comfort in a very confusing and troublesome time.

Rebuilding families. Many children aren’t able to visit their incarcerated parents because of distance, time constraints, or visitation restrictions. By keeping mothers and fathers in contact with their families remotely, we’re able to strengthen their connectedness. This encourages togetherness and growth.

We think this tagline is a fantastic description of what we do. But we can’t take credit for it! The brilliant minds behind these words are:

Tim Leheny

Nikki Stublen

We wish to extend a world of thanks to these two individuals for their beautiful inspiration and efforts. In lieu of splitting the $25 award in half, the money was given back to our program to help cover expenses related to future filming and production. Thank you all so much for helping us make this search a great success!
